Auckland Council’s People & Culture department has a rare opportunity for a passionate leader to join us as Head of People Advice & Partnering (PA&P).
Our exceptional team is currently going through a transformational journey and needs your leadership to ensure we excel in our service delivery.
As an integral and senior member of the People and Culture team, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Business Partnering, People Consulting, and People Advisory team.
The PA&P team performance and systems are key to ensuring an optimal operating and service delivery model for our department.
You’ll bring that to life for your team, and for those who utilise our P&C products and services.
We need your strategic thought leadership along with day-to-day management to deliver a fit for purpose service delivery model that is focused on user experience and business needs.
You and your team are the voice of the business’ and we need you to fully leverage that throughout our P&C operating model, to drive employee experience and respond to business need.
You will have 10-12 direct reports and a further 25-30 indirect reports across three departments.

This role is also the primary senior P&C liaison for the Council Controlled Organisations (CCO’s).
He kōrero mōu : About you
You will be an experienced HR professional with a background working in large and complex business environments where you acted as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
We will also be looking for people leadership experience of a functional division.
A history drawing actionable insights from information and data will be essential. You will need to be capable of setting performance goals and targets, identifying areas of improvement, and drawing detailed recommendations from those assessments to translate into commercial guidance and advice.
You will be passionate about empowering employees and working with them to develop career development and pathways. It goes without saying that you have the political acumen and sensitivity to be persuasive and influential, as well as resilient with strong conflict resolution skills.
