Company description : KiwiRail LtdJob description : Manage and coordinate the national GJNZ & commuter train fleet Responsible for the safe, high-quality delivery of passenger rail services for Great Journeys of New Zealand & Commuter Rail business units Timetable planning and delivery Reporting to the GJNZ Fleet & Safety Operations Manager, the National Fleet Operations Manager will oversee the availability and allocation of rollingstock within the fleets to ensure they are delivered as briefed and to required specifications.

The Manager will coordinate the national GJNZ & commuter train fleet and operational equipment necessary for GJNZ Journeys and ensure that all services including charters operate at peak performance and as scheduled.

Your Role Your role is responsible for working with the wider KiwiRail group to ensure our services operate reliably, efficiently, and safely, while ensuring revenue opportunities are maximised.

From timetable planning responsibilities to ensuring quality and reliable rolling stock is available, your role will oversee the availability and allocation of rollingstock within the fleets to ensure they are delivered as briefed and to required specifications.

Working with the wider KiwiRail you'll ensure stations, platforms and facilities utilised by GJNZ & Commuter are of a standard expected.

And, as things don't always go to plan, this role will be responsible for supporting GJNZ & Commuter teams through disruptions, ensuring there is support when responding to operating issues during times when services are in operation.

Health and Safety is an important part of how KiwiRail operates. You will be a safety leader and will be expected to "walk the safety talk" Your SkillsYou will have extensive experience in transportation delivery, with operational leadership experience within the rail industry and an understanding of the New Zealand rail operating environment preferred.

One day is never the same so someone with high analyitical and problem-solving skills is key. There are multiple stakeholders within the business, so strong communication skills are essential to ensure engagement with staff and to build effective relationships with internal and external customers.

Customer delivery is key, so experience in delivery through processes to ensure provision of high-quality customer service and associated operational support functions in a passenger rail environment will be well regarded.
