Massey University Counselling Service currently has an opportunity for an experienced Student Counsellor / Mental Health Professional to join us on the Wellington Campus full-time.

We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic person who is able to work flexibly with other services and diverse cultures, to ensure students are appropriately supported while at University.

The successful candidate will be working in challenging and complex contexts, so an extensive & in-depth understanding of the issues facing tertiary students and young people will be required.

In this role, you will be in a challenging environment requiring a high degree of autonomy, using a short-term focus, whilst remaining a strong team player.

Sound therapeutic skills and experience with mental health issues will be essential, and experience in designing and delivering psycho-educational programmes and events will be an added advantage.

Experience in working with Maori, Pasifika and international students, will be valuable.

The employment setting has a predominance of young adults, but can involve work with people across the lifespan and applicants will be required to comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and the Vulnerable Children (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children’s Workers) Regulations 2015.
