Key Qualifications

  • Proficiency with mechanical CAD tools (Solidworks and Siemens NX preferred)
  • Experience with robotics and automation would be a big advantage.
  • Thermal design principles and proficient in the use of thermal simulation tools.
  • Design for Manufacture in a high volume consumer environment preferred.
  • High level of experience in tooling and fixture design using various materials and manufacturing methods (injection moulding, soft / hard tooling, 3D printing etc).
  • Proven ability to conceptualise and deliver on complex problems, owning task from initial concept through to finished solution, often under tight time frames.
  • Rapid prototyping with 3D printers
  • Experience with tools and other machine stop equipment a bonus - Dremel, press, lathe, CNC etc.
  • Comfort with a fast-paced environment and appetite for Innovation, Rigor & Healthy Paranoia
  • Strong communication (written & verbal) & problem solving skills - self-starter driving problems to resolution
  • Limited international travel may be required but will be limited to an as needed basis.
  • Description

    Key Responsibilities : Mechanical design to support state-of-the-art test systems and robotics to enable us to be the Test Centre of Excellence for Apple.

    Conceptualisation and detailed design of mechanical assemblies. Off the shelf mechanical component selection - ability to research various options and put together detailed summaries and presentations for the purposes of high level executive reviews required for strategic decision making.

    Ensure adherence to product safety standards and execute or facilitate to these standards. Custom tooling / jig / fixture design to meet critical internal project needs.

    Document and present technical checkpoints for high level review. Cross-functional Responsibilities : Engage and collaborate with cross-

    functional teams to develop & deliver state-of-the-art tooling and test fixtures for expedited hardware validation. - Specifically Hardware Design Engineers and Engineering Project Managers but not necessarily limited to just these.

    Contribute technical assessments to strategic decision-making relating to technology and investmentsDraft and communicate updates to Apple executives pertaining to key development checkpoints

    Education

    Tertiary Qualification(s) in the field of mechanical engineering or mechatronics. 5+ years minimum proven experience in either or both of the above mentioned fields.
