Who are we looking for
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Land Development Engineer to join our Consents team on a 2-year fixed-term contract.
As part of this role, you will be the Council's principal subject matter expert on land development matters by advising customers with complex or high-profile developments on all engineering aspects, from early engagement through to decisions.
The Principal Land Development Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Land Development Engineering Team Leader in providing leadership to the Land Development Team members with managing job allocation, sourcing expert advice and undertaking quality review functions enabling the team to meet their objectives.
You will be the principal reference for the Land Development Team on the day-to-day implementation of the Waikato District Plan and the Resource Management Act.
You will work with consent planners, developers and their agents on providing technical expertise on engineering requirements for subdivision of land and land-use changes.
You will also provide the interface between the Council's Asset Managers and Developers when new infrastructure is proposed, review engineering design and monitor the construction.
Ideally, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in engineering technology alongside at least 7 years' experience in a Development Engineering role.
You will have experience in leading and managing professional experts and have a good understanding of Local Government functions.
