The past year has been a busy time for us at Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato (Waikato District Council), where although COVID created big challenges, it also created some opportunities for change that we have embraced.

We've welcomed a flexible workforce and reworked our office spaces to maximise this. We're opening up career pathways, showing our people how much we value them, and we give everyone their birthdays off!

To make our changes successful we need great people. Are you one of them?

Who are we looking for?

We're on the hunt for a stand-out person to join our Finance team as a Rates Administrator, supporting and contributing to our vision of Liveable, Thriving, Connected Communities.

Reporting to the Finance Team Leader - Revenue, this role plays an integral role in meeting the needs and aspirations of our community.

Our Rates Administrators are responsible for a variety of functions, including processing Notice of Sales, Valuation Imports and reconciliation of our District Valuation Roll and importantly, maintaining the accuracy of property and rating data.

In this permanent full-time role, you will ensure the effective delivery of 'solutions focused' outcomes for the benefit of both internal and external customers, proactively working with and backing up team members, as well as supporting operation staff to understand the intricate details of our department where necessary.

This role is very much hands-on providing advice and support to customers and the organisation, so we're looking for someone who is flexible, has a 'can-do' attitude, enjoys giving great customer service and who enjoys variety.

You will ideally have "on-the-ground" experience in these areas, some finance and accounting knowledge and preferably a sound knowledge of Technology One systems.

You will be able to work across functions and teams, communicate effectively and be focused on continuous improvement.

As the successful candidate, you'll be passionate about growing and developing with your team. Here at Council, it is much more than simply being accountable for your role - it's about how you go about doing your role, how you make a difference to the organisation, the way you work with others, and how you deliver excellence to all customers.

Why join our team :

Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato (Waikato District Council) is not a 'typical local government' employer, we are on a journey to become exceptional and we'd love for you to be part of that!

We are an organisation embracing flexible working; while this role is based in north Waikato's Ngaruawahia, just 10 minutes from Hamilton, you have the possibility of working anywhere across our district in a manner that works for you, the business, and our communities. Sounds perfect right?

Closing Date : Wednesday, 20 October 2021 at 11 : 55pm.
