MinterEllisonRuddWatts is one of New Zealand's leading commercial law firms. Due to our growth, we have a newly established role for a high performing Business Development Manager to join us in Auckland.

The focus of the role is to enable, direct and support business development activities across the firm that link to our clear vision of being the firm of choice for leading clients and exceptional people.

The role will work closely with partners, Business Development & Marketing team and, importantly, our client base to proactively seize on opportunities in the market.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Implementing and managing a best in class pursuit and proposal support function. Work with partners (coaching, support and advice) to run effective tender processes, create effective responses and produce differentiating outcomes.
  • To conduct post-decision reviews and feedback into the partnership themes that may arise.

  • Driving our sector and client programmes. This includes responsibility for strategy, reporting, planning, coaching, support and direct client engagement.
  • Managing specific opportunities (as they arise) through the sales pipeline by providing hands-on advice, support, project management and co-ordination.
  • Managing an effective client listening programme, covering existing clients and target markets to ensure that the programme adds value strategically and tactically across the firm.
  • Supporting the performance of the firm's client relationship management system (CRM).
  • Previous experience required :

  • Client engagement experience with a proven ability to network and build strong business relationships
  • Broad business background with professional services experience
  • Involvement and management of a Key Client programme
  • Experience with tenders and proposal development, including a passion for value proposition development and an eye for detail
  • A demonstrated interest in corporate and government news and developments
