An exciting opportunity has become available for Ranger within the Mahaanui Operations team.

  • Permanent full-time work
  • The role is based from Duvauchelle and provides the opportunity to spend your days in stunning landscapes across Banks Peninsula working to enhance the environment and ensuring that Papatūānuku thrives.
  • This role gets to experience the full range of conservation tasks across biodiversity and marine and into recreation, historic and emergency work.
  • He angitūtanga : About the Role

    You will be focused on the biodiversity mahi of the district and ensuring the work is done to a high standard. You will be working closely with the rest of the Mahaanui team, Iwi as well as other organisations, agencies and the community on Banks Peninsula.

    He kōrero mōu : What we are looking for?

    Required :

  • A genuine interest and enthusiasm for conservation, experience working with iwi and Community organisations;
  • A relevant degree or qualification in biology, conservation or ecology;
  • Have a practical background with the ability and physical fitness to be able to carry out a variety of conservation tasks, including weed control, predator control and biodiversity monitoring;
  • Knowledge of plants, birds and animals and methods to protect, as well as strong communications, and practical skills (e.g. fencing).
  • The ability to plan and prioritise your own work;
  • Leadership skills with the ability to lead a team and projects;
  • Proven organisational skills;
  • Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form and be familiar with and confident in the use of VHF radio systems;
  • A current first aid certificate and full driver's licence;
  • A Growsafe, 4x4 and LUV qualifications are desirable;
  • Boat skills are desirable to help with the local work.
