Based at JR / Duty Free’s Wellington airport operation the roles key purpose is to act as liaison and coordinator between the business’ Australian based marketing team, local store management and NZ airport marketing teams.

As a member of the JR / Duty Free Marketing Team there is an ongoing responsibility to understand and deliver on the strategic and tactical marketing objectives for the business.

Additionally, the role will contribute to the ongoing success of the business with recommendations to improve the Wellington operations and drive locally focused marketing initiatives.

This role will co-ordinate all store wide marketing campaigns, merchandise promotions including visual merchandising, in addition to localised tactical initiatives for JR / Duty Free’s NZ stores.

In all instances the person will work closely with the JR Marketing team to ensure that all NZ based activity is in line with the overarching marketing plan and objectives.

Key responsibilities include :

Marketing

  • Liaising with Airport Retail Manager, Marketing team and Airport Marketing Management teams. This includes :
  • Actively collaborating with Wellington Airport Marketing to extract promotional opportunities.
  • Planning of and updating Wellington local events calendar including Wellington Airport based campaigns and initiatives
  • Ensuring that all merchandise promotional cycles are coordinated with the store visual merchandiser, assisting with implementation when required.
  • Coordination and implementation of marketing lead, storewide
  • In conjunction with the marketing team, provide post analysis of all marketing campaigns, providing recommendations for future activity.
  • Assist in the planning, communication and implementation of Wellington focused initiatives.
  • Proactively put forward suggestions on areas for store and promotions improvement.
  • Communication of all Marketing initiatives to the appropriate Wellington personnel.
  • Visual Merchandising

  • Implementation and maintenance of all promotional windows and in-store displays.
  • Communication of marketing initiatives to the relevant personnel.
  • Ensure all in-store merchandising meets / exceeds JR / Duty Free's retail standards.
  • Maintenance of marketing fixtures and fittings and organisation of display props.
  • Essential requirements around the role include :

  • A minimum of 3 years in a retail marketing role with exposure to visual merchandising.
  • Working within a similar sized business and with a cross section of categories.
  • Demonstrable experience of using creativity to increase sales.
  • Demonstrable understanding of retail processes including marketing campaigns, store operations and visual merchandising.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage various competing priorities and the ability to assess and resolve complex issues.
  • A sense of urgency and the ability to translate this into effective organisational practices and time management
  • Very high level of attention to detail.
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) .
  • Skills sufficient to influence, persuade and negotiate within and outside the organisation.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst also able to work autonomously (as appropriate to role).
  • At least intermediate level in Microsoft office programmes.
