We have an exciting opportunity within our Maori Agribusiness Directorate for a Regional Manager to lead and manage MPIs regional engagement with Maori landowners, building and sustaining strong relationships and engagement with Maori, iwi, hapu and key MPI stakeholders.

The Maori Agribusiness Directorate sits within Agriculture & Investment Services Business Unit, which works to create a thriving and sustainable future for farmers, growers, primary industries, and rural communities.

It also cares for the health and well-being of animals. This is a key role, where you will be drawing on all of your relationship management, partnership, and stakeholder engagagement skills.

The role is diverse and will see you engaging with Maori landowners, providing advice to Ministers and working collaboratively across multiple Government agencies, including Te Puni Kokiri, Te Tumu Paeroa, Manaaki Whenua, and AgResearch.

We are looking for people who have the following background and experience : A sound understanding of the practical implications of Maori land legislation, and the realities of Maori land management and development.

A strong track record of working with iwi / hapu / Maori and delivering results. Proven experience leading high performing teams.

Proven ability to manage complex relationships. A well-developed understanding of nga tikanga me nga kaupapa Maori and the Treaty of Waitangi, and how these affect landowners' aspirations.

If you have project / programme management experience and a sound knowledge of the prior sector and farming management practices that would be an added bonus.
