Clean water, pest management and biodiversity maintenance is a big focus of our long-term plan. Our Biodiversity Team provides services to ratepayers and communities through the maintenance of biodiversity including ecosystem functioning, ecosystem quality and continuous improvement of freshwater systems.
As a Biodiversity Advisor - Lakes, you will lead the project delivery of two parts of our Freshwater Improvement Fund Dune Lake project.

The position is based in the sub-tropical city of Whangārei, about two hours' drive north of Auckland and covers the entire Northland region.
Do you have what it takes?
We are looking for a well-organised person with great communication skills who is a team player with a proven ability to lead and deliver high-quality outcomes with a professional, courteous, and enthusiastic attitude.
You will preferably have a tertiary qualification in environmental management, freshwater management or similar, have a good understanding of ecological issues related to both biodiversity and freshwater management as well as an understanding of Māori culture.
You will need a full driver's license, be capable of working in the field and have some experience in similar roles. You should be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
