About the role

We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated senior policy or implementation adviser to lead a new sub-team focussed on implementing forestry in the ETS.

The Team Leader Operational Policy will lead two core projects :

  • Design and deliver a new Guidance and Outreach work stream to support foresters and farmers to participate in the ETS
  • Develop and implement a suite of new Operational Policies, Processes and Procedures to ensure the way Te Uru Rākau administers the ETS is effective and transparent
  • This role is dynamic and involves a mix of policy development, process design, and on-the-ground implementation. Core responsibilities of the Team Leader include :

  • Supporting the Manager of the Forest Incentives team to deliver the work programme, with specific responsibility over projects to implement improvements to the ETS.
  • Leading a team of 2-5 analysts to deliver the outputs and objectives of the two implementation projects.
  • Providing advice to Senior Leaders and Ministers on operational policy and implementation.
  • Leading and contributing to the development, documentation, review and improvements of operational policy, processes and procedures to implement new climate change forestry policy.
  • Work with Iwi, Treaty Partners and a wide range of external stakeholders including farmers and foresters to design and deliver guidance about forestry in the ETS.
  • Supporting and having accountability for team engagement and performance.
  • Salary Band $109,626 - $148,318

    Mōu - About You

    You will be a talented person with previous experience in leading small teams to deliver pieces of work. You will have a background in policy, operational policy or implementation, ideally in a relevant sector such as forestry or agriculture.

    To excel in this role you will have strong analytical and communication skills, an ability to develop collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders, Iwi and Treaty Partners, and a customer-centric work ethic.

    You will be able to quickly engage team members and establish a positive team culture.
