The School of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) leads research and academic advancement in biomedical and biological sciences and educates health professionals to enhance health and wellbeing locally, nationally and internationally.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the provision of efficient, high quality, cost-effective mechanical and electromechanical technical support for teaching and research in the Department of Physiology and secondarily to other Departments within the University of Otago.

Your skills and experience
It is expected that the incumbent will have a Trade Certificate (e.g. Trade Certificate or Advanced Trade Certificate in Toolmaking and / or instrument making) as a large part of the work will involve design and manufacture of precision scientific apparatus.
Applicants should have the ability to relate well to students, academic and professional staff and work efficiently, with minimal supervision in a team environment.
Preference will be given to applicants who are registered as an Electrical Service Technician, followed by practical experience in their chosen trade demonstrating skills in the following :
Full drivers licence is required for this position. You will also need to be able to demonstrate sound computer skills and be capable of using technical software for design.
