We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Product Owner to work on the conception, implementation and growth of an exciting new Xero product, within our Enterprise Technology group.

This Product Owner role is for an emerging function within our domain. We are growing, and this growth means an expansion within the core product portfolio, managed by Customer Systems and within Xero’s Enterprise Technology domain.

The journey of this new product will begin with you working with business stakeholders and technology owners to play a key role in conception, implementation and growth of a new organisation-wide platform and service in the domain of customer insights.

This domain exists in the intersection of business and customer needs, data insights and elegant technological solutions.

You will have an opportunity to shape up and grow your team and fully step into the role of owning this new product. What's the role?

You will be responsible for executing the product vision, strategy and roadmap. You will work alongside a talented, collaborative and supportive engineering pod maintaining the standard for engineering excellence at Xero.

Your skillful product leadership and management of the pod’s backlog enables the pod to deliver compelling products and services that solve real problems for our customers.

What you'll do :

  • Engage with business and technical stakeholders, programme and project managers, other delivery teams, and third party vendors to understand problems and desired outcomes.
  • Lead requirement gathering and refinement process, ensuring those cater for foundational as well as aspirational needs and outcomes.
  • Coordinate vendor selection process through working with the assessment panel to bring together business and technical assessment outcomes.
  • Leading your new team to kick-off the cycles of delivery on the agreed roadmap. Working cooperatively with multiple stakeholders and vendor representatives.
  • Collaborate across technology teams and competency leads on cross-domain solutions.
  • Work with the Product Manager to help define a product backlog that focuses on achieving agreed product initiatives from the roadmap.
  • Guide and focus the delivery team on what problems need to be solved as priorities and why.

  • Coach and manage your delivery team to facilitate and improve on a reliable delivery cadence. Produce data to demonstrate and track the team’s performance.
  • Proactively identify and facilitate the removal of impediments, protecting the team from disruption and helping them honour commitments.

    Foster a culture of collective ownership and accountability for the work completed within the team.

  • Work closely with the Product Manager to set expectations for delivery, based on best understanding estimations.
  • Work with Competency Leads and Product Managers to manage resource and capability commitments.
  • What you'll bring with you :

  • Demonstrated experience working with high performing Software Delivery Teams.
  • Project management experience, managing risk and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Agile planning, documentation, scheduling techniques and tools.
  • Experience with SaaS platforms and solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with data manipulation and modelling.
  • Experience with management reporting and data-warehousing.
  • Good technical understanding of integration / API interfaces, data and architecture concepts.
  • General experience with business workflows, data domains and enterprise concepts
  • Working with Architecture, Analysis and Delivery team to refine and manage scope and requirements.
  • Ability to interact with Senior Stakeholders to an Executive level.
  • Ability to comprehend and have an understanding of the wider teams portfolio of delivery and how you fit into that.
  • Proactive, can-do’ attitude, exceptionally self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment and effectively collaborate across international teams.
