    Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

    Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently seeking an experienced (10 years minimum) practice nurse or nurse prescriber to lead our nursing team.

    This is a management / clinical leadership role, working within a large clinical team and smaller leadership team, to effectively deliver quality student-focused holistic healthcare in a busy, challenging, but rewarding university environment.

    Ō pūmanawa - About you

  • You will have a broad range of primary care nursing experience and special knowledge of youth health needs would be an advantage;
  • a proven ability to lead and experience with change management along with a passion for influencing, forward-thinking and negotiating to achieve the best possible health care outcomes for our students.

    The clinic has both booked and walk-in patients and experience coupled with a sense of calmness in managing the associated fluctuating university and seasonal workload volume would be beneficial.

    You will develop and encourage the nursing team to work to the top of their practising scope. This will include developing appropriate standing orders, supporting nurse-led clinics and encouraging nurses to undertake the prescribing practicum within the Healthcare Home context.

    Your strengths will include adaptability, flexibility, resilience, a focus on clinical excellence and the ability to deliver innovative solutions along with good management, administrative and computer skills, be familiar with Cornerstone accreditation requirements along with a sense of humour.

    You will also have excellent interpersonal / relationship building skills including excellent verbal and written communication.

    We encourage ongoing professional development and will provide a thorough well supported orientation to both Student Health and the University.

    This role requires safety checking through the police vetting system under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
