The primary purpose of

the Chef de Partie is to support the Head Chef and / or Sous Chef and be part of the team. You are a leader, trainer and mentor to Junior Chefs and Kitchen Hands.

A Chef de Partie is a developmental role with the aim to expand on already strong cookery skills, as well as management skills, so as to one day run the kitchen

The Roaming Giant is owned by Kāpura (Wellington Hospitality Group) which is one of the largest Hospitality companies with over 30 unique bars and restaurants spread over NZ’s capital city, Hamilton & Tauranga.

Requirements for the role :

  • Ideally a minimum of 2 years experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Able to work a mix of days, nights and available for weekend shifts.
  • Team leadership skills, striving for excellence in everything that you do
  • Work in line with the venue and Kāpura’s expectations
  • Bring a positive attitude and create and control an upbeat culture within the team
  • Excellent communication and listening skills for your team and customers
  • Ensure all operational processes and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure FOH and BOH cohesion at all times
  • Identify potential service issues and act accordingly to avoid them
  • Handle complaints with empathy and ensure a more than satisfactory outcome for our customers
