The Māori Outcomes Lead Regulatory Services role will be instrumental to help us drive the delivery of work programmes that achieve these outcomes.

In Regulatory Services (RS), we are planners, engineers, inspectors, scientists, customer experience and performance experts, policymakers, trainers, people leaders, project managers and support staff.

What we do affects many aspects of Aucklanders' lives from the environment and buildings we live in, to the food we eat and water we drink.

A 'typical' day could see us assessing building and resource consenting applications - providing engineering development input - carrying out building inspections - granting permits and licences - enforcing bylaws.

As the most senior Māori role in the RS your role on the Leadership Team is essential in driving a programme of work to achieve outcomes for mana whenua and mataawaka.

You will provide leadership for how RS delivers against agreed priorities in order to progress the Māori Outcomes Framework.

You will lead virtual teams within RS and across Council to deliver against agreed outcomes. You will form part of the council’s Māori Outcomes Extended Leadership team that operates across directorates and the Council led by the General Manager Māori Outcomes.

He kōrero mōu : About youYou will have significant experience in a relevant senior position in large complex environment and experience in managing complex projects within the public sector.

You will have knowledge and experience in project management methodologies and project planning, the ability to have a holistic approach to managing relationships with Māori and proven experience to develop and maintain highly effective professional working relationships, with a wide cross section of stakeholders.

Understanding of the Legislative framework that the Regulatory Services Directorate operates under, e.g., understanding of the resource consents process, national policy statements, the Auckland Unitary Plan and / or local bylaws would be ideal.

Having an understanding of te ao Māori and mana whenua and mataawaka in Tāmaki Makaurau is essential. Ideally, you will have experience in the use and delivery of te reo and tikanga Māori or a willingness to upskill and learn.
