About this role
Leading a mixed team of six Senior HR Advisors and HR Advisors across three national locations, we will be looking for you to :
provide excellent technical advice and leadership on HR and employment matters
lead the HR Advisory team to deliver high quality, responsive and timely customer service to managers and staff
develop expertise and grow confidence within the team to individually manage HR issues
contribute as a leader to the priorities of the wider People and Capability Group and Customs' strategy
use metrics and analytics to measure and demonstrate the provision of timely and consistent advice
timely updates to HR policy in line with business needs, legislative and regulatory requirements.

We need someone who can take the lead for Customs in this critical function and deliver results for the business in ways that meet and uphold our values.
Skills and Experience - to be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate :
5+ years' experience managing employment issues and providing advice on complex employment matters either directly for an organisation or in an advisory role, e.g. employment lawyer
team management / leadership experience ability to grow individual and team capability and knowledge
ability to provide clarity and direction across the HR advisory spectrum
direct experience of investigations, mediation, contracts, staff movement, disciplinary processes
internal and external stakeholder engagement including union partners
knowledge of how to set, monitor and lift service levels
experience using HR data and insights to understand trends and improve on service levels
a commitment to building Māori capability - both personally and within your team.
You will report to the Manager HR Service Delivery and form part of our HR Service Delivery leadership team.
The mid-point of the band for this role is approximately $153,000 with further room for progression through the band. The appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
