    You’llbe joining Otago Regional Council at a critical time with a newly formedEnvironmental Implementation team, and ambitious goals to deliver on theground’ initiatives that will make a real difference and improve environmentaloutcomes.

    We work on behalf of communitiesacross Central Otago, Clutha, Waitaki, Queenstown Lakes and Dunedin.

    TheChallenge :

  • Build effective partnerships across a range of government agencies andother organisations to facilitate collective progress on initiatives that willimprove biodiversity outcomes in Otago.
  • Engage and workshop on biodiversity issues and opportunities andidentify the high-level priorities for improving the region’s biodiversity.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive work programme based on thejoint priorities of a regional biodiversity group, and support or lead thedelivery of key biodiversity projects.
  • Develop an effective, valued relationship with mana whenua andsupport the achievement of mana whenua environmental goals.
  • Your Skills

  • Hold a bachelor’sdegree in environmental science, ecology, geography, or planning.
  • Have 5+ years’ ofexperience in biosecurity, biodiversity, ecology, or conservation managementincluding co-ordination / facilitation of people toward action.
  • Confident and flexiblewith excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Applicants with experienceof embedding mātauranga Māori and kaitiakitanga values and practices withrespect to environment restoration are strongly encouraged.
