Finance at the University of Otago has a long history, and the Department includes some of the most outstanding teachers and researchers in the Business School and the University.

The Department is a CFA Programme Partner, with the Business School being EQUIS and AACSB accredited.

Our Department is internationally recognised for its scholarly contributions in the fields of Corporate Finance, Investments, Derivatives and Quantitative Finance, Financial Econometrics, Capital Markets, Governance, Institutions and Regulation, and in emerging areas such as Carbon Finance.

Current faculty have published in leading journals, including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Business, Journal of Financial Markets and Journal of Banking and Finance.

The Department has excellent access to datasets to support cutting-edge research (including Bloomberg, CRSP / Compustat, DataStream, Capital IQ, Orbis and WIND).

The Role

We are seeking to appoint a full-time confirmation path Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Finance. This role provides an opportunity for you to contribute to our existing teaching and research strengths in the area of Investment and Portfolio Management.

We do however encourage applications from all other finance-related themes.

Your Skills and Experience

You will have an excellent research and publication portfolio in finance, a strong commitment to quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level as well as :

  • A PhD in finance or equivalent.
  • A comprehensive research agenda aimed at internationally-rated finance / economics / business journals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative and collegiate approach to work.
  • Please note candidates nearing completion of the Ph.D. degree may be considered only for the Lecturer position.
