Implementation Lead Injury Prevention Neonatal Encephalopathy Reducing the incidence and severity of injuries is a strategic priority for ACC and one of the many ways we help to improve lives every day ACC is increasing its investment in injury prevention and implementing an ambitious Injury Prevention Strategy In this role you will work closely with the health sector to address the critical fiscal risk of treatment injuries to the ACC Scheme to understand where treatment injuries occur and what causes them and to implement interlocking and targeted costeffective programmes to reduce the severity and incidence of treatment injury in New Zealand ACCs vision is to create a unique partnership with every New Zealander improving their quality of life by minimising the incidence and impact of injury ACC is shifting the ways we work with New Zealanders to deliver meaningful support and guidance in the prevention care and recovery from injury As the Implementation Lead for the Neonatal Encephalopathy NE prevention programme your significant experiencing at delivering a complex codesigned in the health sector will support you in successfully implementing a change programme for reducing preventable NE through improving treatment safety NE is a major cause of brain injury in new born infants often caused by oxygen deprivation at or around the time of birth Children with severe NE have complex care needs that affect families for an entire lifetime This includes the impact on economic productivity of family members and often less time to care for other children which can result in other socially adverse consequences ACC has convened a multidisciplinary NE Taskforce to identify potentially avoidable factors to design and implement a suite of interlocking prevention initiatives aimed at reducing both incidence and severity You will work for the Injury Prevention Leader of the NE prevention programme and with the Injury Prevention Partner as part of an internal team of at least four people and a larger multidisciplinary team of external experts from across the health sector The prevention approach uses effective evidencebased interventions that are costeffective and acceptable to the sector You will contribute to continuous improvement methods to monitor progress and enhance performance reach and impact of these prevention programmes Your knowledge of the health sector will help you in your role which will involve extensive interactions with key health agencies and regulators professional groups including obstetrics and midwifery and all parts of the health sector involved in antenatal and perinatal care including primary secondary and tertiary birthing services You will have a good understanding of the maternity sector in the community and in hospitals This might be either as a clinician or from a health science background You will have experience of leading strategies and change programmes and will be familiar with system changes There is a preference that you will be wellnetworked within the health sector You will be a team player This is a unique opportunity to shape and influence the safety of perinatal treatment in New Zealand and to contribute to improving the lives of vulnerable babies and to make a real difference What we are looking for from you to be successful in this role Tertiary or advanced qualification in a health profession or other relevant field Practical experience at implementing programmes within the health sector especially those with a focus on prevention or best clinical practice Good understanding of the health sector health professions and individual clinical groups Expert culturally safe project management skills for programmes that can be used to deliver treatment injury prevention to a high standard Proficient in project management risk management continuous improvement progress reporting budgets and techniques for monitoring and controlling finances Strong communication skills and the ability to think both analytically and strategically and to understand relevant policy Applications will only be accepted when formally submitted through our ACC Career
