Te Putea Whakatupu Trust

The Trust was established under the Māori Fisheries Act 2004 as part of the settlement of Māori fishing rights claims. As an independent charitable trust, its role is to provide strategic leadership in education, training and workforce development for Māori, and to manage the The Trust's Fund made available for these purposes.

The Trust has a particular obligation to ensure benefits are made available to all Māori and give regard to Maori who do not associate with their Iwi and / or do not receive benefit from a mandated iwi organisation.

In 2018 the Trust launched its new strategy Te Rautaki . It has four key whainga (goals) that sets the direct investment intentions of the Trust through to 2022.

The Trust operates in a virtual office that has lean and SMART models of operations.

Administration Contractor

We are seeking the services of an Administration Contractor. A person to support the work of our office. This administration role will work directly with our General Manager.

The term of this role will be from the 1st of March 2019 to the 30th of November 2019.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational administrative skills and expertise. They must have the ability to work online and will be required to manage the virtual office of the General Manager that includes supporting the administrative requirements of the Board as directed by the General Manager.

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in administration
  • Prior experience in working in kaupapa Maori environments
  • Understanding of Te Reo and tikanga Maori
  • Motivated and ability to work in virtual office spaces
  • Financial and budget understanding is beneficial
  • Strong organisational and coordinating skills are crucial to this role
  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to manage the schedule of the General Manager and support to the Board
  • Generalist administration includes travel coordination, note taking and financial management but not limited to these
  • Provide project support when required
  • Hands-on expertise with Apple Mac and Microsoft products and working systems
  • Some national travel maybe required.

    Part time position - 10 to 20hrs per week with potential to a full time role


    A contracted role not an employment position. Therefore the successful candidate must ensure they meet their IRD requirements directly.


    1st March 2019 to 30th November 2019

    Hourly Rate

    $35.00 (GST INC) per hour
