We have an excellent opportunity at our Pareora plant, for a highly capable person experienced in leadership and continuous improvement within a meat processing operation.

This position reports directly to the Production Manager and is critical in organising and planning the production of the primary butchery lamb department at this site.

Your skills and experience :

  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • fully conversant in operational health and safety management
  • relevant industry experience and knowledge of regulatory and hygiene compliance requirements
  • sound knowledge of meat industry practices and compliance with a focus on lamb production
  • good knowledge of product specifications and strong customer focus
  • ability to manage a large seasonal workforce
  • competent to an intermediate level in Excel / Word / PowerPoint
  • The Department Manager will be responsible for lamb primary butchery operations with a focus on health and safety, food safety compliance, personnel management, continuous improvement and production projects when required.

    Key performance areas of this role will be to focus on quality and yields, and engaging our workforce to produce quality products that meet our customer's expectations and achieve throughputs that enhance efficiencies.
