    The Opportunity Deloitte New Zealand's Tax team is widely regarded as experts and leaders in their field. We are looking for an experienced Manager / Associate Director to join our Rotorua based team.

    You will be an experienced tax professional wanting to take the next step in their career with a leading brand.As a Manager / Associate Director, you will enjoy leading others and supporting them to make an impact that matters and setting the direction to deliver exceptional client service.

    You will demonstrate sales and practice development, with the opportunity to make a real contribution to the growth of our successful Rotorua team.

    You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients ranging in size and covering a broad range of SME and corporate tax issues.

    In Rotorua the clients we help include Small to Medium-sized Enterprises, High Net Worth Individuals and Family Groups, Iwi Pre / Post Settlement Governance Entities, Māori Land Trusts and Incorporations and NGOs.

    You will develop effective business relationships with clients, deliver outstanding tax advice, exceed our client’s expectations and partner with their businesses to grow.

    You will demonstrate and develop your capabilities in the following areas :

  • Delivering exceptional client service; maximising results and driving high performance from people while fostering collaboration across businesses and borders.
  • Influencing clients, teams, and individuals positively, leading by example and establishing confident relationships with senior people.
  • Applying knowledge of current and pending tax legislations and understanding interaction across global tax functions, specifically in your areas of expertise.
  • Fact based decision making by using the appropriate research techniques and skills
  • Improving work efficiency, effectiveness and client service by using common technology tools.
  • Helping clients mitigate risk, meet compliance obligations and statutory deadlines, and realize business goals
  • Advising on a wide range of business tax matters from compliance to planning, whilst understanding the implications of expansion, acquisition, divestment and reorganisation in local contexts
  • Preparing / reviewing income tax provisions for the purpose of reporting in financial statements
  • Reviewing income tax provisions in accordance with applicable tax accounting standards and confirm all related tax provisions.
  • Assisting clients in the resolution of tax disputes.
  • About You

  • 5 years+ work experience in a tax advisory environment.
  • A professional qualification in law or accounting.
  • A strong understanding of end-to-end tax processes & the NZ tax environment.
  • Excellent team player and proven leadership and management skills.
  • Results driven & client oriented.
  • Ability to demonstrate management flair, drive and identify business development opportunities.
