These roles are based in our Auckland and Wellington offices , but subject to flexible remote-working models EY has been embracing.

About Business Consulting

Our Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) team falls under Business Consulting, which mainly incorporates Enterprise Risk, Business Transformation, Finance and Strategy and Customer & Operations competencies, and focuses on business on both a strategic and operational level to sustainably deliver long-term value.

It is tightly integrated with our Technology Consulting and People Advisory practices, forming high-performing interdisciplinary engagement teams.

Further leveraging the insights and delivery excellence brought by our global network of professionals, we bring holistic transformational insights and skills to the most significant New Zealand financial institutions.

We are looking for Senior Consultants with experience in conduct and consumer protection regulation and / or frameworks to be part of our FSRM team, where you’ll focus on client opportunities where your expertise can make a substantial impact.

You’ll build valuable relationships across the financial services industry, gain broad industry experience, and develop strong capabilities, through both formal training and working with senior mentors and talented colleagues.

Your key responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for assisting clients with successful delivery of their conduct and compliance programmes across a varied portfolio with our Financial Services clients;
  • You can expect to work alongside top-tier banking and insurance organisations, addressing all aspects of consumer protection;
  • You will undertake key activities that include developing and implementing conduct frameworks and programmes, performing gap analyses, designing and assessing controls, policies and standards to meet key regulatory obligations and enhance the customer outcomes of our clients;
  • Design and build our conduct and compliance solutions, share knowledge and draw upon subject matter specialists accordingly;
  • Manage your own performance to achieve a high standard of client service.
  • Skills and attributes for success

    To qualify for the role, you must have :

  • 3+ years’ experience in financial services, either within a consulting firm or major financial institution, with a strong focus on customer outcomes and / or consumer protection compliance;
  • Ability to contribute to high quality deliverables which provide relevant insights, underpinned by strong attention to detail, and the capability to write clear and compelling reports and proposals;
  • Proven understanding of consumer protection regulation in New Zealand or similar international markets;
  • Ability to effectively communicate and develop relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across all levels;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Intrinsic self-motivation skills combined with a positive attitude and drive;
  • The ability to be agile, flexible and adapt to rapidly changing business and client requirements;
  • A consulting mind-set, comfortable navigating through periods of ambiguity and change;
  • Degree in Finance, Commerce, Law, Technology, Data Science or similar.
