You’ll work on a variety of the highest profiled projects in NZ and learn about the wider aspects of the consenting business.
As an Intermediate Planner, you will apply your resource management expertise to the assessment of resource consent applications against the relevant provisions of the District Plan, Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan, Bylaws, Resource Management Act, and other statutory requirements, in order to make recommendations to decision that facilitate positive environmental outcomes.
You will also attend council hearings as a reporting officer and represent Council as an expert witness in environment court and other courts.
You will provide accurate professional advice, both verbally and in writing to applicants and the public, to ensure applicants and affected parties are aware of their rights and responsibilities while increasing their understanding of planning processes and regulatory controls.

You have a tertiary qualification in planning or similar acknowledged by the NZPI. You have a high level of customer service skills with excellent case management and both written and verbal communication skills.
this position will expose you to a range of specialisations and potential job trajectories. Our Resource Consents unit processes more than 17,000 consents annually and facilitates a wide range of development projects, from major subdivisions and nationally significant infrastructure projects to houses, apartment buildings and shopping centres.
In the Central team you could be working on a tower block in the CBD, an apartment development on the city fringe, commercial or industrial developments or a coastal subdivision in Waiheke.
