Senior Commercial and Revenue Advisor The Department of Conservation is an exciting and ever rewarding organisation to work for Our vision shared with others is that New Zealand is the greatest living space on Earth We all work together each day to increase the value of conservation contributing to the economic social and cultural success of Aotearoa The Pricing and Economics unit was established as a separate unit earlier this year to drive improved conservation outcomes and to address the need to drive greater revenue from those who benefit from the use of conservation assets This is a rare opportunity to join us as we embark on the second phase of our journey by further increasing the size and capability of our team The Role As the Senior Commercial and Revenue Advisor you will be responsible for managing significant pieces of work to ensure DOCs economic and pricing activity is delivering maximum value to conservation You will achieve this by ensuring sound methodologies and consultation processes have been employed for determining the fees for activity on public conservation land You will also be involved in investigating the value of alternative business models to improve access manage visitor demand and improve visitor safety About you This appointment requires an ability to lead work around pricing methodologies developed through a minimum of 5 years of working in a similar context You will be a confident communicator who has the ability to influence a range of stakeholders alongside robust process management skills and evidencebased reasoning We are seeking an agile and cooperative team member who is comfortable collaborating with others across the wider unit organisation and externally to deliver on key department objectives Specific skills Relevant experience in a similar context A qualification in business commerce or economic policy or a related discipline Strong commercial economic or revenue experience preferably in the tourism sector A broad understanding of conservation management An ability to lead significant pieces of work for the Unit Why work for us Aside from being the multiple award winner of the most attractive employer in the public sector and second overall we all offer Competitive remuneration A supportive and collaborative work environment Respect recognition and opportunities for personal growth Excellent employee wellbeing initiatives including the employee assistance program and discounted insurance Free accommodation in our backcountry huts and campsites as well as general travel and accommodation discounts Job satisfaction from contributing to crucial and meaningful work Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally Please apply online via the DOC Careers Centre Applications must include a cover letter and CV For further information please click on the link to the Applicant Information Sheet and Project Description Applications close at 5pm on Monday 2 December 2019 DOC is committed to a diverse workforce that represents the communities we serve and to creating an inclusive workplace culture
