Be part of enabling Transpower's Whakamana i Te Mauri Hiko - Empowering Our Energy Future and help to achieve Aotearoa's net carbon zero target by 2050
At the centre of the electricity industry, Transpower plans, builds, operates and maintains the National Grid - high voltage assets that transmit electricity around the country 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
As System Operator, we manage the power system so that electricity is delivered whenever and wherever needed, 24 / 7.
The power behind our business is our people!
The Power Systems Group in Operations provides multifaceted power system analysis and engineering, risk and assurance management to enable Transpower in its role as System Operator meet its principal performance obligations and successfully operate the New Zealand electricity market and power system today and into the future.
The Engineering Assurance team plays a key role in delivering this service by working closely with industry participants, such as generators and distributors, to understand how their assets perform against their obligations so we can ensure our Grid and System Operations team can take this into account when operating the electricity market and power system.
You'll lead and develop a team of power system engineers who undertake specialist engineering assurance of the performance of Transpower, Generator and Distributor assets.
Transpower is expecting an increase in the number of assets being connected to the power system in the coming years as outlined in Whakamana i Te Mauri Hiko.
These assets will not only be connected to the grid, but also distributed with local networks owned and operated by Distributors.
As such you will need to successfully develop and grow our capability in engineering assurance to consider and accommodate these changes.
You'll influence and collaborate with the Electricity Authority, existing and new Industry Participants to help them understand our processes and asset owner obligations in order to ensure they evolve, and the System Operator can continue to have confidence and rely on asset performance to help meet our principal performance obligations.
What will you bring
Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate outstanding communication and influencing skills to all levels of an organisation.
Experience / understanding of a regulated business environment assessing compliance against rules and obligations and / or knowledge of the New Zealand Electricity Industry Participation Code whilst not crucial, will be highly regarded.
