About the role

The project adviser provides effective, informed, quality advice and support to the project and internal stakeholders relating to various aspects of the project, including project management process compliance, risk / issue management and provides a coordination role for the programme.

  • Provide advice and support to the project and internal stakeholders in the following areas : Advise on content and information requirements for key Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) documentation including, but not limited to : Project Management Plans, Project Control Book, Benefits Realisation Plans, and Terms of Reference.
  • Assist with drafting project management documents, peer review of documents, and facilitating internal approval processes.

    Maintenance of baseline project management products, in conjunction with any Project Assurance roles; Project Management Plan, Risk Management Strategy, Document Management, and Project Schedule.

    You will be required to keep key Project documents up to date and distributed and provide linkage through to the wider Department.

    Along with the Programme Manager, develop, monitor and update the Project Benefits Realisation Plan, ensuring that external impacts are closely monitored in relationship to the plan and that the enablers for each benefit are tracked and managed.

    Manage the Project's risk register, issues register and change control requirements.Support the Programme Director and Programme Manager in preparing for and managing meetings of the Programme team and Project Board, including overseeing preparation of the weekly run sheets.

    Undertaking minute-taking for Board meetings, and other meetings, where required. Maintain the Project's lessons learnt log.

    Support other workstreams within the project, including the regional team.Collate programme reports including Infrastructure and Facilities Portfolio Governance Committee (IFPGC) and Programme Board reports, and others as required.

    Build and maintain effective relationships with managers and staff across the Department.

    We are looking for a highly capable, self-starter with sound knowledge of best practice project management and techniques, a proven ability to analyse data and complex issues, and excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

    The successful candidate will have :

  • Good knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques that support effective project planning and management.
  • Previous experience working within a complex programme / portfolio environment.
  • Wide range of computer skills with a proven ability using MS Word, Excel, Project and Visio. The ability to learn other packages if required is necessary.
  • Strong relationship building skills, with a proven ability to proactively develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to gather data and then summarise relevant / important aspects.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A well organised approach with the ability to prioritise, work effectively autonomously or as part of a team and without frequent direct supervision.
  • A qualification in a business-related discipline such as project, policy or business is desirable but not essential.
  • Formal Project Management training (e.g. Prince2, Agile, etc.) highly desirable.

    The salary for this role starts from $75,829 up to $107,052 based on demonstrable skills and expertise.
