Clinical Nurse Specialist

Infection Prevention and Control, Dunedin Hospital

  • About the Team

    The Infection Prevention and Control Service (IPC) is a district-wide service with the primary role of monitoring and reducing the risk of infections acquired in hospitals and other healthcare settings.

    We are proud of our supportive and collaborative environment and are looking forward to bringing in another talented RN to expand our essential service.

    About the Role

    In the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist you will be providing specialist nursing care and expert advice to support staff in the management of care delivery for Infection Prevention and Control, within a variety of settings including Aged Residential Care (ARC), Hospital and other public health settings.

    This is a fixed term position through to the end of June 2022 working up to 40 hours per week with flexibility in the hours / days worked and part-time options available.

    The main responsibilities of your role will include (but are not limited to) :

  • Supporting ARC for their readiness to manage COVID positive patients
  • Working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team
  • Providing specialist, evidence-based advice, care, support and expertise
  • Providing education and support for all staff on all aspects of the DHB’s Infection Prevention and Control programme
  • Modelling expert clinical skills, promoting best practice, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and providing education
  • Supporting the implementation of Ministry of Health measures
  • Active involvement in quality improvement initiatives that improve the care of patients
  • About You

    Our ideal applicant will :

  • Be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a current practicing certificate this is an essential requirement
  • Have excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Experienced and credible within the nursing profession
  • A role model and excellent communicator
  • Up to date with current issues in nursing in both a NZ and international context
  • Flexibility
  • A relevant post-graduate qualification would be beneficial
  • Full Drivers Licence
