Dry Goods - Assistant ManagerWe are seeking an experienced and customer-focussed Assistant Manager or a Dry Goods Supervisor who is ready to take the next step in their career by joining and leading a big team as an Assistant Manager.

  • The role will ideally suit an applicant who has, Minimum 1-2 years of Assistant Manager experience from another supermarket;
  • Strong communication and organizational skills;Grocery / Liquor / Dry Goods / Chilled / Frozen experience essential;Relevant Business / Management qualification;
  • Excellent time management skills, be flexible in hours;Clean Police Clearance Record.Dry Goods Assistant Manager will be required to display high presentation standards, honesty and an excellent work ethic.

    If successful you will be responsible for assisting the Department Manager in maximizing sales and achieving specified profit margins whilst managing expenses, stock levels and the Department Team so that our customers receive an outstanding shopping experience.

    Other key responsibilities will include : Undertaking regular tours of all areas of the store to ensure presentation standards are of the highest possible standards at all times.

    Ensure appropriate stock control / stock taking processes and procedures are in place.Ensure New World promotional and pricing programmes are adopted so that the store presents a competitive and brand consistent offer to the market at all times.

    In conjunction with the Department Manager, must ensure wage costs are controlled appropriately. Monitor sales and create opportunities to increase on last year.

    Maintain 100% price integrity in the department.Control all Department Costs. Manage credits in a timely and tidy fashion to minimize waste and reduce loss.

    Hold suppliers accountable for damaged stock making sure credit notes find their way to the office.Ensuring the shop is full and appealing throughout the hours of trade, and that stock levels are controlled appropriately.

    Also ensuring all appropriate signage is displayed correctly and that advertised product is displayed meaningfully.Merchandising the department appropriately, as per the best practice manual.

    Building attractive / eye catching displays and ensuring the department merchandising standards invite purchases through attention to detail.

    Manage the layout of the department to maximize stock visibility to enhance sales potential.Providing training to new and existing employees.
