The Role

The Senior Health and Safety Business Partner will provide leadership, expertise and experience to guide our operations to exceptional performance across the full health and safety spectrum.

They will contribute to a relentless focus on health and safety performance, execution and continuous improvement, to support the drive to improve LPC's Health and Safety performance, and will partner with the leadership teams of several of our key business operations, influencing key stakeholders to adopt and drive LPCs health and safety strategic priorities.

The Senior Health and Safety Business Partner will be responsible for ensuring that company strategies and management commitment are communicated and implemented throughout the business through the provision of education, training, resources and application of procedures and systems for all aspects of Health and Safety onsite at LPC.

Specific duties include :

  • Contributing to the development of the Health & Safety business plan and associated strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Partner with Business Unit management teams and make recommendations into new and improved process, procedures and systems relating to Health and Safety.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that health and safety incident collection and reporting is responded to in an accurate and timely way.
  • Leads the business unit(s) leaders and their staff to pro-actively ensure risk identification, analysis and management is effective.
  • Lead incident investigations alongside the respective business units and make sure they are openly and accurately reported and recorded and steps are taken to prevent a recurrence as soon as possible after the event(s) are reported.
  • Ensure LPC has a centralised and up to date hazardous substances register in place.
  • Provides strong and accurate leadership to the business unit leadership teams to ensure employee accountability and participation in health and safety committees.
  • About you

  • Previous experience as a Senior health and safety professional, ideally with experience in a unionised environment.
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience and success in leading change and evidence of commitment to a continuous improvement culture.
  • The ability to collaborate and influence leaders at all levels, employees, unions and other key stakeholders to ensure the continued improvement in health, safety and learning performance.
  • The ability to use sound health and safety expertise to generate, evaluate and act on strategic options and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
  • Solid understanding and experience leading risk management processes.
