LeaderBrand Produce Ltd is looking for the right candidate to take on a 10 week research project funded by Callaghan Innovation at our farm in sunny Gisborne.
This role reports to the Research Agronomist at Makauri Farm.
Are you interested in contributing to sustainable crop production? This project aims to increase the resilience of our soils and cropping practices through understanding soil health and nutrition, and validating tools such as the Nitrate Quick Test’.

This project is critical to ensure success in further mitigating the impact of agriculture on the environment, and allow us to farm sustainably for generations to come.
The conclusions drawn from your research will drive our crop management team increasingly towards precise, science-based fertiliser decisions that we can trust, that will drive our crop yields and quality whilst reducing our inputs.
The successful applicant will engage and work closely with all levels of the LeaderBrand farming business in Gisborne, across all of our crops.
The successful candidate will ideally have an understanding of soil science and crop nutrition, a good eye for technical detail for when it comes to trials and data analysis, and a reasonable level of fitness required for soil sampling.
The project will involve driving between paddocks in order to manage trials, for which a work vehicle is available (but providing your own transport is preferable).
