Mercer is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Wellington or Auckland locationse : Risk Advisory Lead

The primary purpose of this role is to be the trusted risk partner of the Mercer NZ leadership team, helping to deliver the business strategy with risks managed effectively.

This will include implementation of the Risk Management Framework within Mercer NZ and supporting initiatives across the broader Mercer Pacific Risk and Compliance function.

Critical to this is the ability to understand the business and ensure strong engagement with both key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Cultivate a culture of risk awareness through leading and supporting initiatives to uplift skills and capability relating to governance, risk and compliance across the Business
  • Maintain the entity level risk profile in consultation with the Mercer NZ Leadership team and Boards
  • Partner with the business and provide advice on governance, risk and compliance obligations, risk appetite settings, emerging risks, and internal control based solutions
  • Advise the Business in relation to risk and control assessment, and action planning
  • Perform monitoring, oversight and challenge across business risk profiles, high risk projects, issue management and remediation, performance against risk appetite settings, risk acceptance, and data quality of the Governance, Risk & Compliance system solution ( Scout’).
  • What you need to have :

  • At least 5 year’s working in a risk, compliance or legal role with experience related to managed investment schemes, custodian arrangements, funds management or investments.
  • Experience working in or providing services to a regulated financial services business, with an ability to interpret and apply associated legislative requirements.
  • Sound working knowledge of;
  • Risk management principles and practice
  • Financial Markets Conduct Act provisions and regulatory guides
  • Compliance systems and frameworks such as conflicts management.
  • What makes you stand out :

  • Specific knowledge of AML / CFT and Managed Investment Schemes (MIS) and related compliance obligations will be a significant advantage.
