Animates is New Zealand’s leading pet care company with 44 pet specialty retail stores, 28 grooming salons, 18 vet clinics and growing!

Our high preforming Dunedin store has a passionate team, a great range and a steadily growing customer base.

What will I be doing?

You’ll work Tuesday - Saturday (40 hours)

Your proven leadership, people management skills and passion for retail will ensure you provide effective support and coaching for your team, manage day-to-day store operations, control wages and costs, exceed sales targets and ultimately grow your store.

But this isn't a regular retail environment. Here at Animates, the advice you give and the products you sell make a real difference to the lives of pets.

Our values-led culture and extensive training will develop your expertise to provide specialist nutrition advice, make toy suggestions based on breed and know what fish species make good tank-mates + much more!

To thrive in this challenging and varied role you will need :

  • Energy and drive to lead, coach and inspire your team to provide outstanding customer service
  • An exceptionally friendly manner to build a regular customer base and grow sales
  • Proven experience in a performance based, people management role
  • Comprehensive understanding and proven experience of developing people and managing performance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound operational experience in a complex environment
  • Merchandising knowledge and experience
  • A proven track record driving and achieving sales targets.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, Public Holidays and late nights as required.
