How you'll make an impact :

The Reliability team is passionate about empowering our internal customers to build reliable and efficient software. We do this by having an education focus, creating world class tooling and providing a follow the sun global support model for Xero's customer-facing applications to achieve an optimal level of operational performance.

In this role, you will work closely with Xero's Product and Technology teams to agree on shared objectives, build and implement sophisticated reporting, alerting and governance toolsets, practice technical leadership in a team, and contribute to a culture focussed on continuous improvement of Xero's operational efficiency and reliability.

What you'll do :

  • Empower Xero developers to make the best choice in the cloud for cost efficient, scalable and reliable applications that serve Xero's customers.
  • Improve on Xero's internal cloud and platform cost and usage reporting, alerting and analysis tools to enable greater financial and commercial insights into the services Xero develops and operates.
  • Provide our Xero developers and internal teams insight into their cloud resource utilisation and cost efficiency.
  • Enable business requirements by utilising a combination of cloud governance and cloud management tooling.
  • Provide guidance around tooling, standards and best practices for resource utilisation, cost management and reliability requirements.
  • What you'll bring with you :

  • Have experience as a Site Reliability / DevOps engineer or, alternatively, prior experience as a software engineer or developer.
  • Have experience working with relational data and transforming data into clear and understandable visualisations.
  • Have experience working with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Strong customer service ethic.
  • An understanding of how to measure and analyse cloud and cost efficiency.
  • Good understanding of cloud infrastructure and networking fundamentals.
  • Programming / scripting ability, for example in Python, Golang or C#.
  • Have a passion to learn new software, frameworks, open source tools and development languages.
  • Detail oriented and systematic.
  • Be able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
