    Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role

    Construction & Innovation - The Construction and Innovation Group supports Kāinga Ora to grow its public and supported housing portfolio through the design and development of high quality homes that meet the needs of the community now and in the future, and by driving innovation across the construction sector.

    The Construction and Innovation Group also advises on standards for quality homes, provides planning and logistical support in the rehousing of tenants affected by construction and provides construction pipeline scheduling and reporting.

    The Manager Building Innovation leads the team responsible for driving innovation in the state housing build programmes through piloting, evaluation and mainstreaming of new and sustainable building methodologies and practices with a focus on offsite manufacturing, zero carbon building, waste minimisation and modern methods of construction.

    Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

  • Demonstrated experience leading highly skilled professionals in a multi-faceted and demanding environment.
  • A tertiary qualification in building and construction management, architecture, engineering or building science together with extensive work experience in the construction industry and demonstrated application of building technical knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience in innovation, piloting, research and knowledge transfer
  • The ability to clearly and concisely convey information and ideas in both oral and written communication
  • An understanding of business administration, systems, processes and financial management, including budget planning and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to take considered risks and responsibility for actions
  • Demonstrated ability to make prompt and clear decisions considering the long term impact of these
  • Demonstrated ability to act in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service
  • The ability and desire to collaborate and work well in a team environment
  • Experience in prioritising demands, meeting deadlines and delivering desired results by taking ownership and using effective self and time management approaches
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • The behavioural characteristics and skills required to work in a matrixed environment.
  • Interest in public sector structure, governance, processes and systems.
  • Experience navigating and operating in a regulated environment, experience working constructively across functions and track record of building and maintaining the trust of all stakeholders.
  • Understanding of partnership obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi.
