We have an opportunity for a Project Lead with clinical experience and a strong interest in improving care delivered within our acute health services, to join our team in this newly created role.

You will manage, lead and deliver this project working with Mental Health & Addictions stakeholders, and the Emergency Department (ED) based at Middlemore Hospital.

  • Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Director of MH&A, you will be responsible for the following key deliverables;
  • Improve understanding of acute behavioural disorders and distress of tangata whaiora and whaanau presenting to ED
  • Map and identify the gaps in the current clinical and non-clinical pathways within ED for presentations of acute behavioural disturbance
  • Develop and implement the crisis service improved pathways and associated capability planning
  • Develop resources to support staff training and education, ensure resources are relevant to all ED stakeholders.
  • Seek feedback on resources and look to amend and change as appropriate. The focus of this role is to ensure a responsive, equitable, compassionate and safe experience for tangata whaiora and whaanau presenting with acute behavioural disturbance when engaging with crisis services.
  • The role will be responsible for the delivery of an integrated model of care with clear clinical and non-clinical pathways.

    This role will work closely with Mental Health & Addictions and ED teams at times when crisis support is most needed, which may include weekends or evenings. Essential :

  • 5+ years hospital / Clinical experience
  • Experience in implementing projects / change in a complex environment
  • Registered Senior Clinician with current APC with no limitations
