He angitūtanga About the role
The Kaitiaki Ranger role is a diverse and rewarding role where you will be part of a tight knit team delivering on biodiversity programmes throughout Reefton / Greymouth .
Your work will stretch across some of New Zealand's historic West Coast backcountry as you deliver on a variety of conservation projects from trapping, tracking tunnels, species management and protecting / monitoring taonga species.
This role will also require you to be practical as you build traps, navigate your way through the back country and work with a variety of community groups, landowners, farmers and other stakeholders.
As a Ranger, Biodiversity your field duties may include.
This position requires you to have the ability to not only work in a team but also be a self-starter dependant to work on your own as most days will be spent alone in the backcountry.
We can also offer DOC accommodation for the successful applicant. Due to the nature of the work, you will be expected to work varied hours which can include some night work.

The Kaitiaki, Kanorau Koiora Ranger, Biodiversity will form part of a very tight knit Biodiversity team in Greymouth where you compliment and work together across the Springs Junction / Reefton region.
You will report to the Supervisor, work alongside 3 permanent Biodiversity Rangers and work with the Senior Ranger Biodiversity to deliver on Biodiversity work plans set out from the unit.
