About the team

Transpower's Business Partnering team are trusted advisors to the business, providing Strategic and Commercial advice and Financial partnering services across Transpower, from the General Management Team to Senior leadership and their teams.

About the opportunity

We're seeking a Strategic Finance Business Partner to join us at our stunning Head Office in Wellington.

You'll support Grid Delivery and work across the business, and alongside the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), to drive strategic outcomes through provision of advice to support and drive commercial decision making, performance and business planning.

Your work will have real impact as you :

  • Provide commercial thought leadership and proactively engage with stakeholders across the organisation to remove roadblocks and influence outcomes that enable successful delivery of the Business plan
  • Align and collaborate with the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office to ensure that reporting, targets and strategic objectives are achieved by partnering with General Managers to drive results
  • Provide accurate and timely performance reporting and insights to the General Management Team (GMT)
  • Model and evaluate financial assumptions and implications of portfolio initiatives
  • Oversee the preparation of divisional budgets and provision of information for inclusion in the Business Plan
  • Contribute to a continuous improvement culture; identification and implementation of opportunities for improvement within financial processes and reporting outputs to enable the team to deliver quality outcomes at pace
  • About you

    You'll be an experienced finance business partner, with highly developed communication and influencing skills, who is used to working in a fast paced multi-faceted environment.

    You understand that priorities can shift suddenly, yet hard deadlines do not, and can flex accordingly to ensure great outcomes for your customers.

    Your excellent problem solving skills, coupled with the ability to think strategically and take a long term view, will make you a welcome addition to the team.

    What we're looking for

  • 8+ years' experience in finance business partnering or similar
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships through collaboration, influencing, partnership, coaching
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with a proven track record working in large, complex environments (experience in an Infrastructure environment would be advantageous)
  • Ability to present technical information clearly and simply, tailoring communications to meet audience needs
  • Analytical, statistical or modelling experience
  • You will have a commercial, financial or business related qualification. Certification as a CA, CPA, CMA, CFM is preferred.
