Political Reporter

Stuff is in the market for a journalist to join its press gallery team as a political reporter or senior political reporter.

The right candidate will have a proven ability to cultivate sources, sniff out a story and write it with verve and clarity.

You will be reporting and writing for the Stuff website, as well as our regional and metro newspapers, including The Dominion Post, The Press and The Sunday Star Times.

You will be joining an ambitious, collegial and competitive team based in the Parliamentary Press Gallery in Wellington.

Reporting to the political editor, you will be expected to break stories, set the news agenda and deliver strong analysis of events for our readers.

An ability to file clean copy under pressure is essential.

A background in Parliamentary reporting is preferable, but not crucial for the right candidate. The job is principally a writing role, but any TV, radio or video experience will be looked upon favorably.

Depending on the experience, it will be either a political reporter, or senior political reporter role. Some travel and varied hours will be required as part of the job.
