What would you be doing as a Market Value Direct Graduate?

As an Asia Pacific centre of excellence, the MVD (Market Value Direct) team focuses on supporting clients and audit teams across the region by estimating appropriate valuations on their financial instruments from simple equity holdings to complex structured products.

Many of PwC’s clients hold financial instruments equities, debt, derivatives, etc. The problem is, it helps to have an independent view on the value of these transactions.

Whether it’s estimating the valuation impact of credit risk, capturing the impact of complex terms or managing poor or non-existent input data, this can be a real challenge and that’s where clients turn to PwC’s MVD team for help.

As a Graduate, you’ll learn from the experts. With enthusiasm and a mind for learning, you’ll pick up the skills and experience to further your career in an important part of the PwC firm.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work closely with our extensive book of clients, gain first-hand experience of the different issues our clients face, and take away insights into how we manage them.

As part of the Market Value Direct team you will be joining a small team of which you’ll be a key team member.

Tasks include :

Performing quantitative analysis and applying your skills to arrive at your view of the fair market value of a wide range of financial instruments.

Delivering high quality and insightful outcomes to audit teams and clients across the Asia Pacific region.

Multi-tasking and completing a range of assignments simultaneously across a wide range of different clients and project sizes.

This role would suit those with an interest in financial modelling and derivatives.

And as a PwC Graduate, you’ll be right where the action is, helping our team take the right steps, do the right things, and put in place the right processes to help Kiwi companies and companies across the Asia Pacific region stay compliant and build their credibility.

You’ll learn from our Partners and Directors, absorbing valuable skills and gaining a wide range of experience to kick-start your career.

You will be shadowing and working with some of our existing team to give you a comprehensive and challenging learning environment where you will build the foundation to future roles and promotion at PwC.

You will liaise directly with clients, use accounting standards and critical thinking to solve important problems and be a trusted advisor to our clients and your colleagues.

What do you need to bring to the role?

This is an excellent opportunity to begin your career with PwC. The successful candidate will be available to start within 4 weeks and have recently graduated with a relevant Degree which highlights their quantitative skills.

Our diverse team come from a variety of backgrounds, including graduates who have studied a Bachelor of Commerce and / or Bachelor of Science.

Ideal fields of study would include Applied Maths, Statistics and Computer Science complemented by Finance, Economics or Engineering.

The successful candidate will also bring :

Strong numerical & problem solving skills

Ability to communicate effectively with others in a team environment, build rapport and strong working relationships

Ability to think critically and see the bigger picture

Strong written and verbal English skills

In addition, some knowledge / experience of programming would be helpful in this role

You’ll be at ease interacting with people at all levels in our firm and demonstrate a solid commitment to providing exceptional client service.
