Technician Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the RoleAn exciting new position has recently been created for a Technician at the Animal Health Laboratory (AHL) based at Wallaceville Upper Hutt, New Zealand.
The position will be based within the immunology team and, primarily, will be focused on building diagnostic throughput using automated platforms - this will enhance our preparedness for managing large scale exotic disease responses.
You will also be expected to support diagnostics and specimen reception, also within the immunology team, on an as needed basis following appropriate training.

and BNZ is part of the Ministry for Primary Industries.The AHL has recently moved into its all-new purpose-built laboratory with state-of-the-art facilities.
The laboratory operates at PC2 and PC3+ containment levels (the highest there is nationally). The AHL is internationally accredited to ISO / IEC 17025 : 2018, which requires fully auditable processes to be maintained.
Our purpose is to grow and protect New Zealand. During exotic disease responses we are required to deliver results promptly and accurately to enable rapid eradication and return to disease freedom status as quickly as possible, thereby allowing the reopening of international trade.
and we perform important surveillance work to demonstrate maintained national disease freedom status. We maintain a portfolio of capability for over 400 diagnostic tests.
