We have anexciting opportunity within our Strategy team; the role supportsthe Head of Strategy in the implementation of Sovereign and AIA NewZealand’s Strategy, including working with divisions onimplementing specific strategic initiatives to support theachievement of Sovereign and AIA NZ’s Strategy.

Further theStrategy Manager will monitor and advise in respect of theregulatory and competitive environment ensuring the Board andExecutive Team are provided with appropriate insight to supportstrategic decisions.

The Strategy Managerwill support the Head of Strategy in all strategic matters andinfluence across theorganisation.

Whatyou willdo

  • Facilitatestrategy discussions with business units to develop business unitstrategies.
  • Provide support to the businessunits in the identification and implementation of strategicinitiatives necessary to support the delivery of thestrategy.
  • Prepare presentations and papers forsenior management, Board, and Group office to show progress againststrategic initiatives.
  • Provide support to andensure business units have clear, actionable and aligned strategiesin place.
  • Monitor and analyse theStrategic Radar, providing insight and recommendations in respectto changes to the strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute in Deep Dive’sessions with the business units.

  • Monitor andanalyse the local and global landscape, including competitoranalysis, and provide insights and recommendations in respect tochanges to the strategic initiatives ensuring Sovereign remainsagile and responsive to the market.
  • Providesupport and insight to the development of the three yearly andannual strategy review and refresh forSovereign.
  • Provide support and input to theannual Strategic Planning Process.
  • Providesupport and insight to the annual planning process for Sovereignand provide input to the annual and three year financial plan andStrategic Investment Pool.
  • Develop and maintaina strong working knowledge of the external operating environmentincluding the economy, competitors anddigital.
  • Assist with any other projects orinitiatives as theyarise.
  • TechnicalSkills and Knowledge

  • Strongverbal and written communication skills, including the ability toprecisely and clearly document meeting discussions andactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem solvingskills, including strong financial acumen, reasoning andlogic.
  • Strong organisational and planningskills.
  • The ability to work effectively withsenior management, including having the confidence to raise issuesand provide constructive feedback whererequired.
  • Strong judgment to make criticaldecisions and manage outcomes to strict deadlines. Demonstratedability to work on numerous projects and taskssimultaneously.
  • RoleRelated Experience

  • Financial servicesexperience with insurance experienceideal
  • Strategy development and implementationexperience
  • Experienced in creating businesscases and financial models
  • Create presentationsfor senior management to facilitate strategicdiscussions
  • Conceptual and strategic thinkingability
  • Experience influencing at the Executiveand Senior Management level
  • Strong written,verbal and presentation skills
  • Demonstratedability to lead and inspire teams and to effect positive culturalchange.
  • Strong coach and mentor; able tounderstand individual motivators and key drivers ofsuccess.
  • Strong relationship management skillsto engage stakeholders to understand and influence businessobjective(s);
  • Strong understanding of processand ability to drive continuousimprovement.
  • Ability to package informationeffectively for senior audiences.
  • Experience inbusiness planning and strategy formulation andimplementation
