About you

You’ll be a CPEng Chartered structural engineer with 20+ years professional experience in the consulting industry. Preferably you’ll have project experience in particular in the area of liquid retaining structures and associated civil works.

About the role

Due to ongoing successful tenders for a variety of projects, we require a Principal Structural Engineer with exceptional design skills, ability to drive projects and manage budgets and strong understanding of seismic conditions.

Day to day tasks would involve :

Detailed designs and calculations across a variety of water related projects

Detailed designs will cover reservoirs, dams, power stations, river intakes, large concrete tanks, pump stations and associated buildings and civil works

Technical advice and leadership across the Structural Discipline

Project leadership including design and construct project delivery methods

Detailed report writing

Carrying out Structural assessments, inspections and risk assessment and asset management

Construction supervision as required

Working closely with project teams and project manager to ensure timely and cost-efficient delivery

Mentoring and development of junior team members

Internal review of designs of colleagues

Development and refinement of Specifications

Other requirements include :

Good understanding of NZS 3910 and other conditions of contract

Good understanding of geotechnical and civil design and their interaction with structural design.

To be successful in this role you will need :

To be a BEng (Civil) and in the range of 20+ years professional experience in the consulting industry, with CPEng. Preferably you’ll have project experience in particular in the area of liquid retaining structures and associated civil works.
