Leadership roleSupport improved Public Health capability outcomesOpen to Wellington / Auckland / Christchurch LocationWith up to 6 direct reports, the Manager, Public Health Capability leads a team who work collaboratively with the sector to achieve sustainable and equitable improvements in health and wellbeing outcomes for our population.
This critical role is an opportunity to be part of a new direction for New Zealand's public health system. You will be integral to development and leadership of new thinking and new ways of working.
The Public Health Capability team sits within the Population Health and Prevention Directorate. The Directorate includes our key national public health functions, emergency management, the National Screening Unit and a range of population health programmes such as child health, tobacco control and immunisation.
To succeed in this role, you must be able to influence and lead a range of stakeholders to deliver equitable public health outcomes.
You will need exceptional relationship management and negotiation skills and experience in bridging the gap between policy and operational delivery.
You will have a passion for bringing people along on the public health journey and have a proven track record in the effective implementation of programmes, initiatives and process improvements.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential. The ability to think strategically, work flexibly and communicate effectively will be critical in this dynamic and fast-paced environment.
