Procurement and Commercial Practice Lead What you will do The Procurement and Commercial Practice Lead is a key leadership role within the team with responsibility to contribute to the Defence Commercial Services DCS Centre of Excellence Lead and manage the delivery of the procurement lifecycle plan source manage with a strategic focus within the nominated Defence Estate and Infrastructure portfolio stream that aligns to the commercial portfolios within DCS and NZDF minimising risk and achieving best value to meet business objectives and outcomes Youll play a key leadership role in the Commercial Delivery Team and be responsible for contributing to improving the overall capability and effectiveness of the NZDF commercial function ensuring delivery of key projects to customers as well enabling the development and growth of your team What we need Were looking for an experienced and highly skilled procurement professional with strong leadership and team management skills who has a proven track record in management and delivery of high volume and complex procurement projects specifically infrastructure leading motivating and developing teams setting clear strategic direction and engaging successfully with customers and key stakeholders Ideally youll have knowledge of contracting practices and commercial models for construction professional property services and facilities asset management service contracts Youll have a sound understanding of the endtoend procurement lifecycle process the Government Procurement Rules and best practice procurement behaviour in addition to being a strong people leader Using your strong written and verbal communication skills youll put the needs of the customer at the centre of everything you do Your refined communication skills include being able to engage with and influence a wide range of stakeholders with ease as your written work will be of a high standard Youll be a skilled negotiator with commercial acumen who knows when to push back offer alternatives be able to strategically think on your feet and offer information around the why whilst still retaining customers engagement and buyin Youll be agile innovative excited by challenges decisive and have strong values ethics and integrity Youll have demonstrable experience in dealing well with pressure remaining calm and being empathetic If you tick the above operations by synchronising key panNZDF enabling functions including Commercial Services Logistics Communications and Information Systems Business Futures Security and Knowledge and Information Management The effective and efficient delivery of these enabling functions is a key contributor to the operational effectiveness of our Defence Force In this sense JDS are a force behind our Force External suppliers and commercial partners are an increasingly critical enabler of the Defence Forces operations DCS leads and enables the wider NZDF commercial function including procurement planning of commercial risk and performance across the organisation DCS performs centralised commercial and business processing functions for NZDF and offers a range of value adding services to internal
