Waikato DHB is seeking anexperienced senior nurse to join our team in the Women’s Health Service to leadand develop the termination of pregnancy service.
Due to a recent change inabortion legislation, we require an experienced senior nurse to lead practicechanges and develop the service further to be in line with legislativerequirements.
This is initially a fixedterm position, with a view to make permanent following review.
The purpose of thisposition is to :
Reporting to the servicemanager, this role will coordinate services for women seeking a termination ofpregnancy predominantly in the first and second trimester.
The care delivered will be multidisciplinaryand woman-centred and must be provided in a timely and sensitive way. Thecoordination of this care may involve triaging, providing oversight ofscheduling of appointments, multidisciplinary liaison, improvement of patientinformation, and development of pathways and guidelines / protocols.
The role mayalso involve clinical care of women following procedures.
In this role, you willsupport women as they come into the healthcare system, through coordination andmanagement of their care.
You will berequired to develop quality initiatives that improve care and service deliveryto these women. You will demonstrateleadership, and provide education and support to women and the wider healthcareteam.
You will also be required tosupport the implementation of local and national initiatives.
The ideal candidate willhave significant experience in women’s health and termination of pregnancycare, a comprehensive understanding of the abortion legislation and the issuesfacing users of the service as well as service providers.
You will be aself-starter, comfortable working independently to further develop the service.
It is envisaged that thesuccessful candidate will provide vision and focus for this essential service.
