About this role

We are seeking an experienced Household Attendant. You will be working in a unique business environment, working as part of the housekeeping team to provide high quality domestic and hospitality support to Their Excellencies and their guests whilst prompting the Office and the Household of the Governor General through harmonious and co-operative internal working relationships and handling external contracts with discretion and efficiency.

We select on capability and welcome a wide range of applications where the candidate can demonstrate the following :

  • Extensive experience in delivering housekeeping services to principals in a high-end environment
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of best practices in Housekeeping duties and laundry services
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, handle a physically demanding operational workload and adjust easily to changing work demands and circumstances
  • Experience within the Public Service or state sector, and knowledge of New Zealand's government and constitutional arrangements.
  • Key responsibilities of this role :

  • Carrying out a high level of personal service on a rostered basis (tidying, cleaning, laundry etc.) for Their Excellencies and their guests at Government House Wellington.
  • Carrying out the role as required in the absence of the Senior Household Attendant Housekeeping.
  • Carrying out daily cleaning and as required conservation cleaning tasks to maintain a high level of presentation of the formal (Red Carpet) areas and function and event spaces of the main building at a standard that reflects a Vice Regal Residence and maintains long term stewardship of the property.
  • Carrying out Housekeeping services as required to ensure outbuildings are serviced and maintained at a level that is presentable and able to be occupied at short notice.
  • Carrying out the linen-laundering, pressing, storage for the House in line with best health and safety practices.
  • Carrying out accurate Inventories for appropriate GH supplies as required
  • Maintain equipment to appropriate standards and particularly in line with heritage value of the House as required.
  • Continuously looking for and presenting new and improved ways of innovating in the delivery of services
  • To support housekeeping activities at Government House Auckland as necessary, including the ability to travel to Auckland if required in consultation with Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Maintaining FOH or Kitchen with adequately clean linen as required
  • Provide laundry services for Houseguests as required.
