    The Waimakariri District Council are looking for a Governance Support Officer with the ability to learn and work effectively across a range of administrative activities and processes.

    This entry-level role will be providing support primarily to our busy, professional governance team who support elected members and democratic processes including Council, Committee and Community Board meetings.

    Some duties will also involve assisting our administration and desktop publishing team. The successful applicant will be involved in general administration including letters / mail merges, information capture, coordination of meeting venues and room set-ups, document deliveries, Civic functions such as Citizenship ceremonies and ANZAC preparations and potentially be involved in the 2022 Local Body Election process.

    To be successful in this role you will need to have a good eye for detail, strong typing skills (MS Word), basic spreadsheet knowledge and Adobe Acrobat would be beneficial, a drivers licence (restricted as a minimum), well developed written and oral communication skills, and have great discrete interpersonal skills with an interest in democracy / governance processes.

    Applicants will be motivated, flexible team players who are organised and committed to providing excellent service and quality results.

    In return, the Council offers a challenging work environment where you can really make a difference. Training will be provided to enable the compilation of agendas for a range of meetings, loading of information onto the website and in time the ability to take appropriate minutes at a variety of meetings.

    This full-time position commencing in July would involve 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday with occasional evening work for special meetings or events.

    Only 20 minutes north of Christchurch, Waimakariri District offers small town and rural lifestyles with a range of outdoor recreation activities on your doorstep but with the advantages of a big city nearby.
